Welcome to the Center for Applied Technologies in the Humanities at Virginia Tech. Part of the Department of English, CATH provides technological resources and opportunities to teachers, scholars, and students in the humanities.

The Center brings together individuals engaged in humanities-based research, teaching, and/or outreach projects requiring intensive application of cutting-edge technology and robust infrastructural support. CATH's goal is to be at the forefront in applying the technologies that are revolutionizing research, teaching, and outreach in the humanities—a natural extension of the goals of Virginia Tech—a university renowned for its state-of-the-art uses of technology. CATH projects such as the The Donne Variorum, The Canterbury Tales Project, English Poetry 1579-1830, and the The Thomas L. Gravell Watermark Archive and Database have acquired international recognition for their contributions to research, teaching, and outreach.
