Dear Mary, I thank you for your kindness in sending me the provisions, though as for eating the
provisions I can’t do any for it. I can’t eat anything or have not eat any thing for three weeks
but a little mush and milk. It is reported here that we all have to go to Richmond in a few days, but there is so little truth in our
officers that we know not when to believe any thing we here.
Mary, you don’t know how I want to get home once more, and get well, and
get to stay at home. Mary, I want you to
tell Uncle Peter I want him to come as soon as he can,
Munday if he can, for the rest of the
boys will leave here about that time. I will write no more now; I
hope to be at home soon.
